Kenneth Vermeer is a Dutch goalkeeper born on 10 January 1986. Vermeer started his playing football as an outfield player, later choosing the position of a goalkeeper. At the age of 17 he was scouted to Ajax Academy and there gradually progressed to Jong Ajax and later to the senior squad. The young player made his debut in Ajax in the UEFA Cup match against IK Start.
Despite signing a new contract with Ajax in 2007, the player did not get enough playing practice when Maarten Stekelenburg and Dennis Gentenaar were the first choice keepers in the side. In the season 2007/2008 he was loaned to the Eredivisie team Willem II, where he played in 16 matches.
Before the season 2008/2009 Vermeer came back to Ajax and was included into the senior squad by Marco van Basten. During the season Vermeer became the second choice goalkeeper and when Stekelenburg sustained injury, the Dutchman became a regular. In 2011 Stekelenburg penned a contract with Roma and Vermeer emerged as number one.
Kenneth Vermeer made 15 appearances for Netherlands U-21 team and 9 appearances for U-23 side.
