Kevin Strootman is a midfielder of Roma. He was born on 13 February 1990 in Ridderkerk, Netherlands.
Kevin’s career took off in local amateur VV Rijsoord, where he drew the attention of Rotterdam side Sparta scouts. In 2007 the footballer moved to the youth team of the club. One year later, the midfielder could boast of several significant achievements, which was not left unnoticed, as Strootman joined the main team. Kevin’s début for Sparta came on 15 February 2008 in the away 6-2 loss to Ajax. The footballer managed to find the net for the first time on 12 November 2008 in the home 2-1 victory over Leeuwarden side Cambuur.
The midfielder penned a loan contract with Utrecht for the 2010/2011 season, but in the winter 2011, after making only 14 appearances and firing two goals, he returned to Sparta and went on to net another four times in 15 games.
On 28 June 2011, Strootman sealed a five-year deal with PSV, where he continues to perform at the position of an attacking midfielder up till now and wears number 6 shirt. His début for the Eindhoven side club came on 7 August 2011 in the away 3-1 loss to AZ. Two weeks later, Kevin kicked his first goal for PSV in the Europa League match against Austrian side Ried and helped his team to hammer the rivals 5-0. All in all, the footballer featured in 62 games and scored 13 goals for the club.
In the summer 2013 many European clubs considered a transfer for the Dutchman but it was Roma that secured his signature.
The footballer received his first call-up to the Netherlands national team on 9 February 2011 for the friendly against Austria, where he came on as a substitute for Theo Janssen. On 6 September the same year, Strootman contributed his first goal in the qualifier against Finland.
