Ki Sung-Yueng is a football player from South Korea, born in 1989. He began to play football in Australia, where he moved in 2001 and joined John Paul College. In 2006 he began his professional career joining FC Seoul in Korea, though he was offered a choice between the Australian A-League side Brisbane Roar and FC Seoul. He was a part of the Korea U20 team playing in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. In 2008 he became one of the key players at FC Seoul and helped his side to the second best finish in the K-League.
There were speculation on Ki Sung-Yueng move to Europe and finally he completed a move to Celtic on 25 August 2009. His debut there was in a 1-1 draw against Falkirk on 16 January 2010.In October 2010 he was named the SPL Young Player of the Month. He helped his side to win the Scottish Cup in 2010/11 and in 2011/12 they were Scottish Premier League title winners. Ki Sung-Yueng attracted attention of many European clubs and on 24 August 2012 he signed for Swansea City A.F.C.
After a successfull season with the Welsh club Sung-Yueng was loaned to Sunderland.
He was a part of the South Korea U17, U20 and U23 teams. In 2012 he helped the South Korea U-23 Olympic team to win bronze medals. His first senior team appearance was a World Cup qualification match against Jordan on 7 June 2008.
