Kolbeinn Sigthorsson is a football player from Iceland that plays for Ajax.He started his playing career in a small Icelandic club Víkingur, yet quickly moved to HK Kópavogs youth team, where in 2006 he made debut at the professional level.
The player was noticed by the scouts of several European clubs, including Arsenal and Real Madrid, but in 2007 Sigthorsson decided to sign a deal with AZ Alkmaar. After playing in the youth team for a season on 5 August 2010 the player appeared in the starting line-up of the senior side for the first time. 24 days later in the match against Excelsior Sigthorsson scored his first goal for the team. Overall he made 32 appearances for AZ and netted the ball 15 times.
At the end of the season 2010/2011 AZ proposed the played to extend the contract, but Sigthorsson decided to move to Ajax, where he debuted in the match against Twente on 30 July 2011. Despite sustaining several minor injuries during first seasons, Sigthorsson became a regular in Ajax and one of the rey players in the midfield line.
Kolbeinn Sigthorsson played in 12 games for Iceland U-17 team, scoring 7 goals.
On 21 March 2010 the player made his first appearance for the national team of Iceland in the friendly match against Faroe Islands.
