Kostas Lamprou is a goalkeeper of Feyenoord. He was born on 18 September 1991 in Athens, Greece.
Kostas’s career took off in Atromitos, where he drew the attention of Ajax scouts. The keeper moved to the academy of the new club at the age of 13, but spent only a year there before joining an amateur club of Amstelveen.
Feyenoord took an interest in Lamprou and offered him a professional contract, when the footballer was 16. The head coach gave the keeper number 25 shirt and started to train him for the position between the posts.
In the 2009/2010 season, Rob van Dijk was injured and then club manager Mario Been took the young footballer to the training camp in Portugal so that to prepare him for the role of a reserve keeper for the match against Portuguese side Sporting. However, then second-choice goalkeeper Darley Ramon Torres did not need a substitution, and Kostas did not get playing time.
In 2011 Feyenoord sent the player on a season-long loan to Excelsior. However, Lamprou failed to come on the pitch for the temporary team, because he was recalled to his parent club at the beginning of 2011. The footballer’s long-awaited début for the main squad came on 20 September 2011 in the KNVB Cup home game against AGOVV Apeldoorn. The keeper made only four appearances for his club till October 2012.
Kostas was capped 26 times for the Greece national U-17, U-19 and U-21 squads.
