Kyriakos Papadopoulos is a footballer of Schalke 04 and the Greece national team, who usually performs as a back. He was born in Katerini, Greece.
In the summer 2007 Papadopoulos completed the move from his native Svoronos Katerinis to Greece champion Olympiacos. The back’s début came on 2 December 2007, when he came as a substitute in the match against Atromitos and became the youngest footballer ever to play in the Greek Super league. Besides, Papadopoulos featured in several Champions League games (particularly against Real Madrid and Roman side Lazio) and made encouraging display in the Greek Cup matches.
In September 2008 the back extended his contract with Olympiacos and made the first appearance in the new season. On 23 June 2010, the Greek player transferred to German side Schalke 04 and signed a four-year contract with the club. On 15 July 2011, the contract was prolonged till 30 June 2015.
Papadopoulos has the experience of playing both for the youth national team and the senior one. He was called up to the 2007 European Youth Championship qualifying matches and showed an imperious form, helping his squad to proceed to the finals, where they were beaten by more mature Spanish peers.
On 4 June 2011, the Greece national team welcomed the back into the fold during the match against Malta, where Kyriakos scored a goal. One game later, Papadopoulos found the net of the Latvia national team by firing the equalizer and putting his second international goal on the scoresheet.
