Lars Unnerstall is a German goalkeeper of Schalke 04. He was born in Ibbenbüren, West Germany.
Lars got to the SV Uffeln academy and was groomed there for eight years. In 2004 the keeper moved to Grün-Weiß Steinbeck and spent a year there before joining Preußen Münster in 2005. He trained there till 2008.
On 1 July 2008, Unnerstall developed into a professional footballer by signing for Schalke 04.
His first official game for the Gelsenkirchen side team came on 31 July 2011, when Schalke played against FC Teningen in the first leg of the DFB-Pokal 2011/2012. Lars substituted first-choice goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann and conceded one goal, but his club eventually won 11-1.
In October 2011 the keeper penned a new contract with Schalke till 2013. Soon after Unnerstall made his first Bundesliga appearance, coming as a substitute for sent-off Fährmann and showed massive potential, which made him a first-choice goalkeeper of the Gelsenkirchen side team the following season. In the second half of 2013/2014 season Unnerstall was loaned to Aarau.
The goalkeeper one time lifted the DFB-Pokal and the DFL-Supercup.
