Lasse Sobiech is a German centre-back who was born on 18 January 1991 in Schwerte.
Lasse was formed in the academy of his hometown club VfL Schwerte where he played for 7 years before being transmitted to a German top club Borussia Dortmund in 2003. The footballer spent the same amount of time playing for the youth teams of the Black Yellows and twice or thrice reached the finals of the youth championship and cups.
In 2009 Sobiech was given an opportunity to play for the senior squad, penning a contract with Borussia Dortmund, which runs until 2012. Initially he played for the reserve team, debuting on 25 July 2009 in the match versus SV Wacker Burghausen. Thereafter Lasse became a regular player, making 32 appearances and netting his debut senior goal for the team. Moreover, for a short time he even wore captain’s armband. Soon Sobiech had a chance to join the first squad, but got into a strange situation. When Lasse was sitting on the dock, his foot was pressed by a cruise ship. The footballer needed time to recover, which prevented him from his first team debut despite a number of injuries in the squad. Soon afterwards Lasse was loaned out to FC St. Pauli, where he appeared in 10 games. In 2012 the centre-back was sent out on loan again, this time to SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Upon returning from the spell Lasse completed a move to Hamburger SV.
At the same time Sobiech represented Germany at U-18, U-19 and U-21 levels. In total, he scored 1 goal and earned 21 caps.
