A Brazilian footballer Leandro Damião da Silva dos Santos operates as a striker for Internacional in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. He was born on 22 July 1989 in Jardim Alegre.
Leandro’s youth career passed at the academies of Atlético Tubarão, Atlético Ibirama and Internacional. He had studied football in its minutest details and played for different youth teams, before turning into a full-grown striker. Finally, in 2010, his professional career started off. Hardly had he settled in the senior team, when he was chosen to play at the 2010 Copa Libertadores. The following season turned to be even more fortunate. Damião was named the best player and won the 2011 Campeonato Gaúcho. In 2011, it was said that the striker would leave Internacional to join Tottenham. But instead the contract was extended for a term of 5 years. Leandro continues to make frequent appearances for the club.
Damião earned his first call for the Brazil national squad in 2011. He represented his motherland at the 2012 Olympic football tournament, scoring 6 goals in 5 matches. His team finished runners-up to Mexico.
