Lee Robert Martin is a midfielder of Millwall. He was born on 9 February 1987 in Taunton, England.
Lee’s youth career took off in the academy of Wimbledon, where the player was learning football in all its minutest details. Martin managed to adapt to the junior squad rather soon and showed stellar performance, which helped him to draw the attention of Manchester United scouts. ‘The Red Devils’ invited the midfielder to a trial, and he passed all necessary tests to be admitted to the youth system of the club in 2003. It took Lee two years to get fully ready for the professional level.
In 2005, the footballer penned his first senior contract, but was mainly used as a sub during his first season. In 2006, Martin went on loan to Royal Antwerp and netted one goal in 17 fixtures during six months. From 2006 till 2008, the midfielder performed on temporary basis at Scottish side Rangers, English side Stoke City, Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forrest. Lee featured in 52 matches and fired four goals during his spells.
In 2009, the footballer sealed a permanent deal with Ipswich Town and was given a chance to take part in several matches of the 2009/2010 season, which became rather successful for him, but the management of ‘The Tractor Boys’ decided to send Martin on loan to Charlton Athletic, where he found the net three times in 20 games during half a year. After returning to his parent Ipswich Town, the midfielder took his tally to 100 fixtures and six goals before moving to Millwall in the summer 2013.
