Leon Barnett is a defender of Wigan Athletic. He was born on 30 November 1985 in Luton, England.
In 2002 Leon joined the academy of Luton, which was located in his native town. He spent three years there before making a professional start. While in the academy, Barnett managed to gain necessary experience, which helped his career to take off without a hitch.
However, in 2004 the footballer was sent on loan to Aylesbury United despite he was still a trainee. After six matches for the temporary team, Leon returned to Luton Town and continued his performance, this time on professional basis. The defender made 59 appearances for the club and netted three goals.
After the end of the 2006/2007 season, Barnett’s capture became a priority of various English side teams. West Bromwich decided to beat off the competition of its rivals at all costs and signed the talented footballer in the summer 2007. Leon spent two seasons in the new club and went on loan to Coventry City, where he took part in 11 games during one season.
In the summer 2010, Barnett ended his ‘Baggies’ career after making 45 appearances and firing three goals. Leon transferred to Norwich City and played for the Canaries before being loaned to Cardiff City in 2013.
In August 2013 the player moved to Wigan Athletic.
