A Brazilian footballer Leonardo Fabiano Silva e Silva plays as a defender for Atlético Mineiro. Leonardo was born on 22 June 1970 in Rio de Janeiro.
A starting point for the move to the senior game for Leonardo was 1999, when he signed a pro contract with América-RJ. Before grabbing the contract, Silva spent few years at the club’s academy playing for the youth squad. In 2002, the defender was scouted by Brasiliense. The move brought Leonardo two victories. In 2002, the club won the Brazilian Championship Third Division and the Brasília State Championship. Silva’s performance was soon noticed by different clubs.
In 2004, the footballer had a year spell with EC Bahia. In 2005, he defended Palmeiras but didn’t manage to settle in the team. During the following three years (from 2006 to 2008) Leonardo spent time trying to make the teams with Portuguesa, Juventude and Al Wahda. In 2008, the defender signed for Vitória. He became the squad’s essential player giving the club a plenty of assist in winning the 2009 Bahia State Championship.
In 2009, Silva joined Cruzeiro. He made occasional appearances for the team featuring in 27 fixtures and scoring one goal. He also won the 2009 Minas Gerais State Championship under the club’s flag. In 2011, Rafael opted to join Atlético Mineiro. In 2012, his new club was crowned the champion of the Minas Gerais State Championship.
