Lerin Duarte is a midfielder of Heracles Almelo. He was born on 11 August 1990 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Lerin began to play football in the academy of Sparta Rotterdam, where he trained and performed for various youth teams in order to clinch a place in the main squad of the club. Duarte made his professional début on 1 August 2009 in the home 0-2 loss to Twente. Sparta was relegated to the Eerste Divisie in 2010, but the midfielder stayed for the 2010/2011 season. However, the team did not manage to get a promotion, and Lerin transferred to Heracles Almelo in June 2011.
The footballer penned a three-year contract with the new club and commented his move by saying: ‘I played for Sparta, and of course this is a great club. But I’ve only played at one club, and at some point you want to do something else, you want to climb up the ladder. And my feeling is Heracles Almelo is a good step.’ Duarte made his first appearance for Heracles on 6 August 2011 in the match against RKC Waalwijk, where he came on as a substitute in the 60th minute.
After two years and 76 matches for the side Duarte was offered a lucrative deal with Dutch powerhouse Ajax.
The midfielder represented the Netherlands national U-21 team on 4 September 2011, when he came on as a sub in the 76th minute of the UEFA U-21 Championship game versus Luxembourg and helped his squad to secure the 4-0 victory.
