Leroy Fer is a Dutch midfielder born on 5 January 1990 in Zoetermeer, Netherlands.
Leroy was born to a family of a baseball player, and his grandfather was a footballer. Fer opted for becoming a sportsman like his relatives. The midfielder’s youth career took off in DWO, where he trained before joining the academy of Rotterdam side Feyenoord in 1999. During eight years, Leroy performed for the youth team and diligently perfected his skills, which helped him to earn a place in the main team.
In 2007 Fer penned a four-year contract with Feyenoord and made his début for the club on 2 December 2007 in the hammering 6-0 victory over Heracles Almelo. The footballer’s first goal came on 30 March 2008 in the match against NAC. In the 2008/2009 season, Leroy was turning into the anchor player of the team and came on the pitch in the UEFA Cup games. The midfielder made 103 appearances and amassed 14 goals for the club during four years.
In 2011 Fer accepted an offer of Twente, which clinched the title of the Eredivisie Champion the same year. The footballer played the key role in the team and found the net 12 times in 47 games.
In July 2013 the Dutch joined an English side Norwich City.
From 2006 till 2012, Leroy was capped 45 times and contributed eight goals for the Netherlands U-17, U-19 and U-21 squads. In 2010 the player was invited to the senior national team.
