Li Haiqiang is a footballer from Hong Kong. He was born on 3 May 1977 in Meizhou, China. He played for such Chinese teams as Guangdong Hongyuan, Qingdao Hailifeng, Dongguan Dongcheng and Chengdu Wuniu before 2006 when he joined Hong Kong First Division League team South China.
In his first season here he scored six goals and was named the Hong Kong Footballer of the Year. In the 2007/08 season Li Haiqiang netted four goals from free kicks and was awarded the Hong Kong Footballer of the Year for the second time. On 1 August 2009 South China faced Tottenham Hotspur in the Panasonic Invitation Cup and Li Haiqiang scored the second goal helping his team to win the match 2-0. He helped the team to reach the semifinals of the AFC Cup in 2009, where they lost to Kuwait SC 1-3.
During his stay with South China the team won the Hong Kong First Division League four times and twice they were Hong Kong Senior Shield winners. Li Haiqiang left for Tuen Mun in the summer of 2012.
From 2008 till 2010 he represented the Hong Kong national team. He earned his first international cap in November 2008 in the match against Macau. In the 2010 East Asian Football Championship semifinal he wore the captain’s armband and helped the side to qualify for the final. All in all he made six appearances for the national team.
