A Brazilian footballer Rodrigo José Lima dos Santos plays as a striker for Benfica in Portugal. He was born on 11 August 1983 in Monte Alegre.
Lima signed his first professional contract in 2003 with Mixto. But he didn’t manage to settle there, so in a year he moved to Vizela, where he was groomed during another year, making 7 appearances in the starting eleven. In 2005, Lima joined Paysandu-PA. He made only occasional appearances as a starter of the squad. His next season would find him at Iraty in 2006. The team’s head coach considered the striker had no future as a member of the squad, so the transfer to J. Malucelli happened. Rodrigo didn’t stay at that club for long either. In 2006, a move to Astral-PR took place.
After the transfer had been made, the striker was sent to serve loans at Parana´. He spent half a season with the temporary club, making 17 appearances and scoring one goal. In January 2008, Lima’s services were loaned by Juventus-SP, where he made practically no appearances. In the summer 2008, another move to the temporary club happened. That time it was Brazilian club Santos, which gave Lima an opportunity to play 21 matches for half a year. In January 2009, he was welcomed to Avai, which secured his services for half a year. In total, Rodrigo made 8 appearances and scored one goal for the temporary squad.
In the summer 2009, Lima moved to Europe, where he joined Belenenses. Finally, the striker got a chance to make a full-scale start of his career. Over the course of a season, he was let on the field 27 times, netting 7 goals. In the summer 2010, Braga bought out his contract. Rodrigo made up leeway, scoring 26 goals in 58 games during the two-season time.
In the summer 2012, a four-year contract was signed with Benfica.
