Liu Jun is a Chinese goalkeeper, born on 25 September 1983 in Qingdao, China.
Liu started his career at the youth football academy of FC Guangdong Mingfeng. There he got his first playing experience representing the academy’s youth team. Moving up through different levels of youth squads, the goalkeeper got ready to the start of his professional career. However, the club was unable to offer him a role within the senior squad, so the player was allowed to leave the club as soon as he finished the academy.
At the beginning of 2005 Liu joined FC Qingdao University with which he played at the amateurs’ level. There he failed to show his best form and as a result received no playing practice. The only place where he got an opportunity to show his skills was a training ground. The player was dissatisfied with his team role and soon left the club.
In 2007 he got a chance to shine at the top level, signing a dream-deal with the Chinese Super League side FC Qingdao Jonoon. His first-team debut happened a year later on 6 July 2008 during a narrow 1-0 defeat against FC Beijing Guoan. Being just a back-up for the club’s first-choice goalkeeper Liu Zhenli, Jun finally got his chance to shine in September 2009 due to Zhenli’s injury. Despite showing a solid play, he got back to his backup role right after the main goalkeeper’s recovery.
