Lisandro López is a striker who plays for Al-Gharafa. He was born on 2 March 1983 in an Argentinian town Rafael Obligado.
Lisandro’s youth career began in 2001 when he joined Spanish Racing where he attended the club’s football academy. Lisandro López stayed there until 2003 when he began his professional career.
In 2003 Racing, where Lisandro was trained, signed the talented striker to a professional two-year contract, the first one in Lisandro’s career. He started participating in the matches from the first round of La Liga. Lisandro was a top scorer and his goal sniff saw the team to high position in the standings. He appeared in 70 matches and scored 26 goals in two years.
In 2005 the gifted striker from Argentina drew attention of Portugal champion Porto. The club’s managers agreed on the transfer fee of €2.3 million. After the payment the player joined the Portuguese club. López signed a four-year contract with the club. In the first season Lisandro scored 7 goals in 26 matches. In the following seasons he increased the number of goals drastically. In four years of appearances for the club he scored 49 goals in 106 matches.
In the summer of 2009 the footballer attracted attention of different European clubs as his scoring abilities made them think thoroughly over acquiring the top-class player. Without hesitation Lyon paid €24 million for the Argentinian plus €4 million for Lisandro’s future appearances. The footballer began actively participating in matches for the club. Not only the price for the player but the staggering striker qualities of Lisandro made the coach put him in the first team. From 2009 to 2013 he appeared in 166 matches for the French club and scored 82 goals.
In August 2013 the Qatari club Al-Gharafa offered 6 million euros for the player and Olympique could not resist.
Lisandro has been given 7 calls up to Argentina national team since 2005.
