Liu Jianye is a Chinese defensive midfielder for Jiangsu Sainty. He is also comfortable at right-back.
Born in Shenyang, China, Liu started his senior career with Changsha Ginde in 2005. On April 30, 2005 he made his first competitive start for the club in the match against Shenyang Ginde. Soon the influential midfielder gained a regular place in the main team. In the 2006 season Liu Jianye saw plenty of action, appearing on the field 25 times. He also aided his teammates stave off the drop zone and avoid relegation from the top tier. But the club was unable to cope with the higher standard and eventually fell into the second division in 2010.
The player decided to leave Changsha Ginde and signed for Jiangsu Sainty. During the 2011 campaign Liu Jianye was installed as the captain of the team.
On July 18, 2009 the footballer was handed a debut for the China national team in the friendly tie against Palestine. He also participated in the East Asian Football Championship and AFC Asian Cup in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
