Luc Castaignos is a striker for Twente. He was born on 27 September 1992 in Schiedam, the Netherlands.
Luc’s youth career started in 1997 after he entered Excelsior ‘20 youth academy. Luc studied at the academy for 9 years and participated in the Dutch youth championship with Excelsior youth squad. In 2006 Luc moved to the youth academy of Spartaan ‘20. In 2007 the young striker joined Rotterdam Feyenoord and 2 years after he was offered to become a regular in the starting lineup.
In 2009 Luc began his professional career in the Dutch football by signing his first contract with Feyenoord. Castaignos was periodically included in the starting 11 and used every opportunity to show his best. For 2 years at the club he managed to score 15 goals in 37 matches.
In 2011 Luc attracted much attention from Internazionale because of the club’s declared policy of squad rejuvenation. Luc Castaignos is considered a rising star due to his breakthrough style of play similar to the one of Didier Drogba who can outplay the defenders and successfully perform an instep drive all by himself. In the summer of 2011 Luc Castaignos signed a long-term contract with the Italian giants but one year later returned to the Netherlands joining Twente.
From 2008 to 2009 Luc played for the Dutch U-17 team, totaling 17 caps and 13 goals. From 2009 to 2011 Castaignos was periodically included in the Dutch U-19 team roster, scoring 9 goals in 14 appearances.
