An Argentine footballer Lucas Armando Mareque Bucconi started his junior career from the academy of Real Racing Club de Santander. After a while, he moved to River Plate, where he learned football in all its minutest details. He stayed in youth system up till he was 21. Finally, his debut took place on 17 October 2004 in a match against Almagro and his professional career started. But a real challenge for the young footballer turned to be Torneo de Clausura 2005, which he managed to pass. Before moving to the next club, he scored two goals in 59 matches for River Plate.
In 2006, the management of River agreed to let Lucas off. He signed a contract with Porto, where his league debut was made. It happened in January 2007 in a game against União de Leiria. But the Argentine felt he needed more playing practice to achieve success, so he asked to be sent on loan. That’s why, in July 2007, he was transferred to Independiente.
His first game for a new club occurred on 12 August 2007 in Torneo de Apertura. But he was let on the field only during the second round. His absence in the first round could be explained by a worldwide jungle of red tape. Lucas succeeded in getting into the starting XI very quickly, as he came to turns with the head coach. Independiente bought him as a permanent player in January 2008.
It wasn’t all plain sailing. At the beginning of the spring, the defender was sidelined after a failure in a match against Lanus. But such a decision didn’t lead to improvement, so he was returned to the starting line-up.
After coming back, he even bettered his game. The 2009/2010 season was very fortunate for the player. He became a captain during that period. In November 2010, he became a scorer in the game with Quito. Unfortunately that goal didn’t prevent the team from losing. Not a single final was hold without Marque’s participation. He contributed the squad to gain the International trophy (first in the last 15 years).
In the summer 2011, he moved to Lorient in the Ligue 1. After two years with the club the Argentine was released in 2013.
