Lucho González plays as a midfielder, born on 19 January 1981 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Since 1995 González trained at the Huracán academy where he became one of the best young footballers which allowed him to pass to the main team. In 1998 he started his professional career in Huracán. During four seasons González played for this club being one of the key midfielders. The head coach trusted him including González in the starting line-up when it was possible. The footballer made 110 appearances and netted 11 times during his four-year spell with Huracán.
González’s performances earned him a deal with the Argentine outfit River Plate. In the summer 2002 Lucho signed for this club where he played until 2005. During this period he sometimes stayed on the bench however in most of the matches he appeared in the starting eleven. González scored 18 goals in 82 matches for three years.
In 2005 Lucho started his European career signing a contract with Porto. From 2005 to 2009 he was a very important team member, contributing with 111 games and 32 goals. Despite having missed several matches González became one of the best goal-scorers among midfielders.
In 2009 Marseille paid a fee of €18 million for the Argentine footballer and acquired his rights for two years and a half. During this time González played 87 games overall kicking 15 goals.
In January 2012 Porto got their former midfielder back to the squad. González kept on delivering impressive performance in the starting eleven and scoring excellent goals. In January 2014 Lucho moved to a Qatari club Al Rayyan.
Since 2003 Lucho González has netted 6 goals in 44 matches for the Argentina national football team.
