Ludovic Giuly is a retired French midfielder. He was born on 10 July 1976 in Lyon, France.
Ludovic embarked on his professional career with Lyon in 1994. He shortly got a moniker the Magic Elf due to his low height (1m 64) and vivacity. He had a brilliant 1996/97 season with the club as he scored 16 goals in 37 league games. In January 1998, Giuly moved to AS Monaco. He became a midfield fulcrum for the team in the 1999/2000 season as they won the Ligue 1 title. In the 2002/03 campaign, Giuly scored 3 goals in 4 Coupe de la Ligue matches helping his side to clinch a victory.
In 2004, the Frenchman transferred to Spain where he signed for powerhouse Barcelona. The first two seasons at Barca gave him true glory as claimed La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup in both seasons and was part of the winning squad of the UEFA Champions League in 2006. In the 2007/08 campaign, Giuly got Italian Serie A experience with AS Roma collecting the Italian cup and supercup. In between 2008 and 2011, he played for PSG winning Coupe de France in 2010. Ahead of the 2012/13 season, Giuly signed for Lorient and played 15 matches for the club. At the end of the season Ludovic announced his retirement from professional football.
Ludovic Giuly was an international for France since 2000 till 2005. He was part of the squad who won the Confederations Cup in 2003.
