Luis Ernesto Michel Vergara is a Mexican goalkeeper who currently plays for Guadalajara and for the Mexico national team.
Luis Ernesto Michel was born on 21 July 1979 in El Grullo, Mexico. In 1999 the goalkeeper started playing professionally with Mexican side Tapatío where he spent 4 years. From 2004 to 2005 Michel served a season-long loan spell at Santos Laguna. In 2006 the football player joined Guadalajara. In 2007 Luis Michel became a first-choice goalkeeper of the club. He traditionally wore black uniform which earned him a nickname “The Black Knight”. The keeper spent the Apertura 2008 on the sidelines because of the injury. After rejoining the first team, Luis Michel won the Interliga 2009 together with his club. In the winter 2010 he was appointed as club captain. Since 2006 Luis Ernesto Michel has made more than 200 appearances for Guadalajara.
Since 2007 the goalkeeper has featured in 15 games for the Mexico national team.
