Luke Steele is a goalkeeper, born on 24 September 1984 in Peterborough, England.
Luke’s professional career took off in Peterborough United in 1999, when the footballer penned his first senior contract with the club. However, he had to face high competition for a regular place between the posts and made only two appearances during three seasons.
In 2002, Manchester United scouts took an interest in Steele’s skills and invited him to their training ground in order to assess his strengths and weaknesses. The keeper impressed the coaching staff and earned the right to join ‘The Red Devils’. In 2004, Luke went on loan to Coventry City and took part in 32 fixtures for the team during his spell.
In 2006, the footballer sealed a permanent deal with West Bromwich Albion and became a second-choice goalie of ‘The Baggies’. In 2008, he completed a temporary move to Barnsley and made stellar display in 14 games for the team during his spell, which helped him to get a long-term contract with ‘The Tykes’. Steele clinched a regular spot in the starting line-up and made 227 appearances for the club during a seven-year spell.
In the summer 2014 Steele moved to a Greel side Panathinaikos.
From 2002 till 2005, the keeper was capped 12 times for the England national U-18, U-19 and U-20 squads.
