Maarten Martens is a midfielder, born on 2 July 1984 in Eeklo, Belgium.
Maarten decided to devote his life to football and joined the academy of Belgian side Anderlecht due to his persistence. The footballer’s performance for the club began from the 2003/2004 season, when he managed to clinch a place in the main team.
After one year with Anderlecht, the midfielder received an offer from Eredivisie side RKC Waalwijk, which he accepted without hesitation. Maarten made 43 appearances and fired eight goals for the new club during two years.
In 2006 Martens penned a contract with AZ and played for the club until 2014. Then he moved to a Greek side PAOK.
The footballer’s début for the Belgium national team came in 2007, and he managed to take part in nine games since then.
According to various football pundits’ opinions, Maarten stands out in a crowd due to his great dribbling and passing skills, pace and scoring flair.
