Maicon Marques Bitencourt, currently known as Maicon, was born on February 18, 1990 in Duque de Caxias, Brazil.
Maicon started his career at the youth system of Fluminense. In 2007, the striker was included in the first squad of the team and in 2009 made his scored his debut goal for the squad.
On March 10, 2010 the striker signed a four-and-a-half year contract with FC Lokomotiv Moscow for a transfer fee of €4m. In 10 days he debuted for the main squad in the match against FC Krylia Sovetov Samara, that ended three to nothing for Lokomotiv, and on May 15 he scored his first goal, putting the ball in the net of FC Amkar Perm.
As an international player Maicon represented the Brazilian U-20 national team in 2009. He participated in the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Having scored twice in the quarter-final match against the German U-20 team, the striker played a vital role in the Brazilians’ achieving the semi-final against Costa Rica. In that tournament the Brazil U-20 national football team reached the final against Ghana and lost it on a penalty shootout, thereby taking the runner up position.
