Already in three weeks, he graced the Rovers with his splendid hat-trick in a 3-1 League Cup fray against Norwich City. In summer 2011, a crafty forward returned to the United and featured for three Football League Cup matches with them.
On 28 January 2012, Diouf signed for the Bundesliga club Hannover 96 on a four-year contract. However, two years later he switched for Stoke City.
Mame Biram Diouf earned his first cap to the Senegal national team in a 2-1 friendly win over Congo DR on 12 August 2009. Mame fired his maiden international goal in a 1-0 win over Cape Verde on 11 August 2010.
