Mateus Alberto Contreiras Gonçalves was born in 1983 in Luanda, Angola. He is an Angolan football player and currently plays for Real Valladolid.
The first club Manucho played for was Benfica de Luanda, where he played since 1999 and in 2002 he joined Petro Atlético.
In January 2008 he joined Manchester United but without a game there he was loaned to Panathinaikos. In September 2008 he made his debut for Manchester United in the match against Middlesbrough in the League Cup.
The second half of the 2008/09 he spent in Hull City on loan and in July 2009 moved to Spain, where he signed a five-year contract with Real Valladolid.
In the summer 2010 he was loaned to Bucaspor and in January 2011 joined another Turkish club, Manisaspor, on loan.
Manucho is called up for the Angola national football team since 2006 and he earned 37 caps and scored 19 goals for them. He was a part of the national team, when they reached the quarterfinals at the 2008 and 2010 African Cup of Nations, and Round 1 in 2012, when Manucho was named one of the top scorers of the African Nations.
