Manuel Schmiedebach was born on 5 December 1988 in Berlin.
He spent his younger days in such hometown clubs as Schwartz Weiss Spandau, Spandauer SV, SC Staaken 1919 and Nordberliner SC until he finally struck roots at Hertha BSC in 2003. With Hertha, Manuel became a Junior Championship Class B winner. At the beginning of his senior career, Schmiedebach was transferred to Hertha BSCII, where he netted 6 goals in 36 appearances during 2006-2008 seasons. In 2008, he moved to Hannover 96 reserve squad, but demonstrated a stable play with his scoring 9 goals in 46 games, and was promptly promoted to the first team of the club.
A young midfielder made his Bundesliga debut on 8 August 2009. It was a 0-1 defeat to his previous club Hertha BSC. At the end of the 2008/09 season, Schmiedebach put his best foot forward, thus cementing his place in the starting eleven for the next seasons. In 2010/11 campaign, the Reds finished 4th in the Bundesliga, thus qualifying for 2011/12 UEFA Europa League Play-off round. The same year, ambitious and inspired, Schmiedebach extended his contract with Hannover 96 for another 4 years.
At the international level, Manuel Schmiedebach amasses 1 goal in 10 appearances for the Germany U-19 national team.
