Marc Janko is a striker, born on 25 June 1983 in Vienna, Austria.
In 1990 Marc started his career at the youth academy of Admira Wacker where he developed his skills and prepared to begin his football career at a professional level.
In 2003 Janko finished his football formation at the academy of Admira Wacker and was offered a move to the main team. During three years Marc played for this Austrian side; however he rarely appeared in the starting eleven of Admira Wacker. Tough competition didn’t allow the young footballer to make a steady start of his professional career. From 2003 to 2005 the Austrian striker netted 2 goals in 13 matches.
However in 2005 the situation changed drastically. Janko not only signed for a prestigious Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, but also started to get into the starting eleven regularly. Sometimes he came on as a substitute; sometimes he earned a place in the starting XI which helped him to rehabilitate himself for three lost years with Admira Wacker. Janko delivered impressive performance for Red Bull Salzburg. He took part in 108 matches overall and kicked 75 goals for this Austrian club. The player’s performance drew the attention of European football clubs which are constantly in search for young talents. Eventually Dutch club Twente sealed a long-term deal with the footballer.
Marc started the 2010/2011 season in Holland. He immediately began getting into the starting eleven of Twente where he spent a year and a half. During this time Janko was the key striker of the club where he scored 24 goals in 45 matches.
In January 2012 Janko signed a permanent contract with Porto. Marc finished the 2011/2012 season with 10 appearances and 4 goals.
From 2012 to 2014 Marc defended the colours of Trabzonspor. Later on he moved to Sydney FC.
Since 2006 Marc Janko has played for the Austria national football team.
