Marcel Gecov is a Czech midfielder born on 1 January 1988 in Prague.
In 1994 Gecov underwent trials at Slavia Prague and was invited to the club’s youth team. For 9 years he went through all the youth levels of Slavia becoming an excellent midfielder. In the summer of 2005 Marcel was promoted to the senior team, without making a single appearance. Due to the strong competition in the club, the young midfielder went on loan to SK Kladno in 2007. From January 2007 to the rest of the season, Gecov started in 17 games for the Bluewhites and netted 1 goal.
In 2008 Marcel moved to FC Slovan Liberec signing a permanent contract with them. After a long break he got a real chance to show everyone what he is capable of. Regular appearances on the pitch let the player gain a lot of confidence in his abilities. His performance became more dynamic and tactically competent. By 2011 Gecov had reached the level of the strongest European championships and in the summer of the same year was swooped by the London club Fulham.
In July 2012 Marcel was purchased by Gent for an undisclosed fee. Half a year later Gecov switched for Slavia Prague.
Gecov represented Czech Republic at all youth levels scoring 1 goal in 55 matches from 2005 to 2011. His first senior cap came on 10 August 2011 in a friendly match against Norway.
