Marcel Meeuwis is a Dutch midfielder. He was born on 31 October 1980 in Goirle, Netherlands.
Marcel penned his first professional contract with Dutch side Willem II in 2000.
Unfortunately, the management decided Meeuwis was not ready to join the main team of the club, and he netted only six goals during two seasons, which resulted in the footballer’s move to VVV-Venlo on loan.
Marcel had luck in the new club, as he managed to prove he was worth the place of a regular. With the lapse of time, the striker became the pivot of the team, and VVV-Venlo offered him a contract on permanent basis. Meeuwis made 118 appearances and fired ten goals for the club during four seasons.
In 2006, the player accepted an offer of Dutch side Roda and sealed a deal till 2012. The management wished to see Marcel at a regular place, and the footballer lived up to their expectations, as he amassed 11 goals in 97 matches during three years.
In the summer 2009, German side Borussia Mönchengladbach secured Meeuwis’s services, but the striker did not get what he expected. His début for the new team came on 16 August 2009 in the 2-1 victory over Berlin side Hertha, but the head coach let him come on the pitch only in another 19 fixtures during two years.
In 2011, Marcel transferred to VVV-Venlo and took part in 41 games for the club. After a short spell with Melbourne Heart Meeuwis became a free agent.
