Marcel Risse was born on 17 December 1989 in the city of Cologne, West Germany.
The footballer began his career in TuS Hohenhau. There, Risse stayed in the youth team until 1997, and then he moved to Leverkusen Bayer-04, where the player spent nine years, making his debut in the Bundesliga in a match against Hertha in May 2008. His career in Bayer got off on the wrong foot: he didn’t play in the first team and performed only in six games for the reserves. In the winter break of the 2008/2009 season, Marcel stopped getting playing practice and was given out on loan to FC Nuremberg. In the second half of the season the player took his place in the starting eleven three times and showed his best qualities, among them extraordinary speed. So, he became a key player and began to appear regularly on the pitch from the first minutes of all the matches. Soon he made six assists and became the leader in assists in the League. Little time passed and Risse resigned.
In the summer of 2010, the player returned to Bayer, but shortly after he was given on a loan to Mainz-05, where the player performed in 25 games and got on the scoresheet with one goal. Marcel’s debut took place in May 2011, and he was offered a contract till 2014 which he didn’t refuse. In November 2011 the player sustained a serious knee injury and, having played ten matches, concluded the season.
At the end of 2012/2013 season Marcel was invited to Bundesliga 2 side Koln.
