Marcel Ritzmaier is a midfielder of PSV. He was born on 22 April 1993 in Knittelfeld, Austria.
Marcel’s career took off in December 1997 in local TuS Spielberg, where he spent two years before moving to SV Lobmingtal in September 1999. Three and a half years later, the young footballer penned a contract with FC Judenburg. Soon the midfielder showed spectacular results and became the pivot of the team, which drew the attention of SK Austria Kärnten. Ritzmaier made his début for the club in the Austrian Football Bundesliga match against Rapid Wien, when he came on as a substitute for Marco Salvatore.
On 2 February 2010, Marcel sealed a deal with Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. Ritzmaier’s first appearance for the new club came on 26 October 2011 in the KNVB Cup third round home match against Lisse, which ended in a 3-0 victory. The footballer’s European début came on 30 November 2011 in the away 2011/2012 Champions League game versus Legia, and he celebrated a 3-0 victory as well.
In 2013 Ritzmaier was loaned out to recently promoted Cambuur.
The midfielder made his first international appearance for the Austria national U-17 team on 23 September 2009 in the friendly hammering 11-0 win over Liechtenstein.
