Marcelo Antônio Guedes Filho is a back of Hannover 96. He was born on 20 May 1987 in São Vicente, Brazil.
Marcelo’s professional career took off in local Santos. The footballer made his début for the club on 20 May 2007 in the home 3-2 victory over América de Natal and earned praise after scoring the winner, which was his first senior goal. Filho also helped his team to qualify for the Copa Libertadores and proceed to the quarterfinals of the tournament. Before his contract expired at the end of August 2008, the back made 41 league appearances and found the net two times.
On 1 September 2008, the player penned a five-year contract with Polish side Wisła Kraków. Marcelo came on the field for the new club for the first time on 27 September 2008 in the home 4-0 victory over Arka Gdynia. Half a year later, on 22 March 2009, Filho netted his first goal for the team in the game versus Cracovia Kraków and celebrated a 4-1 win. The footballer featured in 63 matches and chipped in ten goals for the club during two years.
On 8 July 2010, despite his contract with the Polish squad was still in force, Marcelo sealed a deal with Dutch side PSV till 30 June 2013. The back continues to perform for the club up till now and wears number 4 shirt. The player’s first appearance for the new team came on 14 August 2010 in the 6-0 victory over De Graafschap. Three months later, on 13 November 2010, Filho went on to the net of Excelsior, which was his first goal for PSV, and celebrated a 4-2 win.
Marcelo took part in 139 games and got on the scoresheet seven times during his spell with the Dutch club. In 2013 he signed a contract with a German side Hannover 96.
