Marco Cassetti is a defender for Udinese, born on 29 May 1977 in Italian Brescia.
The defender spent his youth career in several youth clubs finishing it in Montichiari football academy.
In 1996 Cassetti received an offer to join the Montichiari first squad and signed a professional contract with the club. Throughout the two seasons, from 1996 to 1998, Cassetti played in the team, from time to time being included in the starting lineup. For two years he played 30 matches and scored 6 goals for the Italian Montichiari.
In 1998 Cassetti moved to Lumezzane FC. In the first season Marco was a regular starter for the club, the rest of the time performing successfully for the team. For two years he netted 3 goals in 50 appearances.
In 2000 Marco Cassetti joined the Italian Verona, staying there for three seasons till the year 2003. During this period Marco was the club’s key player, but there were times when he wasn’t included in the club’s starting lineup due to poor performance. Within three seasons Marco Cassetti scored 7 goals in 61 matches for Verona.
In 2003 Marco was purchased by Lecce FC, where he started to perform extraordinary well. He took the key position in defense when the coach entrusted him to be the right back. For three seasons, from 2003 to 2006, the Italian footballer netted 9 goals in 95 appearances for Lecce.
In 2006 Cassetti became a permanent AS Roma player and progressed into one of the key defenders in the capital team with more than 180 appearances.
In the summer 2012 he completed a move to Udinese Calcio but didn’t feature for the club and was loaned to English Watford. At the end of the spell Cassetti signed a permanent deal with a Championship side.
From 2005 to 2008 Marco Cassetti was capped for the Italian national team five times.
