Marco Russ is a German footballer born on 4 August 1985 in Hanau.
He began his youth career in the hometown football section VfB Großauheim, coached by his father. In 1996 Marco moved to Eintracht Frankfurt playing 8 years for the youth squad of the club and in 2004 finally made his senior debut. Though a young player was a regular in the first team, he was sent to the reserve squad for 8 times during the season.
In 2007, Russ cemented his place as a starting central defender after one of his teammates suffered an injury. He established himself as a good player and soon extended the contract until 30 June 2012. Overall, he had 163 appearances scoring 13 goals for the Eagles.
Nevertheless, after Eintracht Frankfurt’s Bundesliga elimination in 2011, Russ began to look for another club. That’s why in the same summer he made a move to VfL Wolfsburg signing a contract until 30 June 2014. He has already had 24 games and scored one goal for the Wolves.
Marco Russ was called up to the Germany national U-21 football team in August 2006 but still was never to play for it. Perhaps because of this he hardly believed in receiving a national team cap, and since January 2012 he formally subscribed for the Croatia national team.
