Marcos Painter is a defender of Portsmouth. He was born on 17 August 1986 in Birmingham, England.
In 2005, Marcos started his professional career in Birmingham City. The footballer made only five appearances during his début season, but gained priceless playing experience.
In 2006, Painter was sent on loan to Swansea City, where his skills were appreciated by the coaching staff. The player was very promising, solid in defense and could boast of steady performance, which attracted the attention of the head coach. That is why the management of the temporary team decided to secure Marcos’s services on permanent basis after the end of his loan spell.
In the 2007/2008 season, the footballer started to gain professional experience in League One matches and helped his team to gain the promotion to the Championship. Painter took part in 60 fixtures during two years and a half and completed a move to Brighton & Hove Albion on a six-month loan. The defender became the key player of the new team and featured in 19 games for the club during his spell. In the summer 2010, Brighton & Hove Albion management decided to offer Marcos a long-term contract on permanent basis.
In August 2013 Painter completed a move to Portsmouth.
