Mariano Gonzalo Andújar is a goalkeeper for Catania. He was born on 30 July, in 1983 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Mariano’s professional football career started in 2001 at Club Atlético Huracán. In the 2004/05 season, he broke into the club’s starting lineup making 36 appearances as a first-choice.
During the 2005/06 season Andújar played on loan for Italian side Palermo, totaling 11 appearances in Italian Serie A, seven in the UEFA Cup and three in the Coppa Italia.
In 2006 Mariano returned to Argentina and joined Estudiantes, where he was first-choice goalkeeper and helped his team to win the Apertura 2006. He also took part in a ‘golden match’ after which the club, for the first time in 23 years, became the Argentina champions.
In 2008 the club reached the finals of South American Cup, and in 2009 Mariano was one of the heroes of Estudiantes victorious campaign in Copa Libertadores 2009. Andújar even set a record of not conceding a goal for 800 minutes.
In June 2009 Argentine footballer transferred to his current Italian club Calcio Catania.
Since the summer of 2009 Mariano is called up to play for the Argentina national team. He made his international debut on 6 June 2009 keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Colombia.
