Mario Bermejo Castanedo was born in 1978 in Santander, Spain. Currently he plays for Celta de Vigo as a striker.
He began his playing career with Racing de Santander youth team and then went on with reserves. Bermejo made one La Liga appearance for the first team before joining Athletic de Bilbao, where he featured in one top division match with the main squad, which was UEFA Cup game against U.C. Sampdoria, and since then he had four loan spells in lower divisions. In the 2002/03 season, Bermejo played for Recreativo de Huelva and the 2004/05 season he helped Racing de Ferrol to remain in the Segunda División.
Since 2005 a Spanish footballer featured for Albacete Balompié, Almería, whom he helped to the top division, and Xerez CD. His first season with Andalusian club was productive, as they got promotion to the top division though they lost their positionin the 209/10 season. In 2011 Mario Bermejo moved to Celta de Vigo.
He represented Spain at Under-16 and Under-18 levels.
