Mario Suárez Mata is a Spanish defender who plays for Atlético Madrid.
The place where he started was the youth system of Atlético. He was promoted from the second team of the club to the main squad in the season 2004/05 and then signed his first professional contract.
Having played in 4 games in the season 2005/06 Suárez went on loan to Real Valladolid for the whole following season. Mario quickly adapted himself to the new circumstances and delivered quality football that helped his club win the Segunda eventually getting a top flight promotion.
The following season was spent in Celta Vigo, also on loan. Not showing anything outstanding in the summer of 2008 Mario accomplished his move to Mallorca. The deal provided a possibility of reacquiring the player by the club from Madrid.
Mario spent 2 successful years playing for Mallorca and helping them reach the Europa League. It made the management of ‘Colchoneros’ activate the option of reacquiring the footballer and transferring him to his current club. By now Mario is a key player who has made 55 appearances with 2 goals for the club. He is also one of those to help Atlético Madrid obtain the UEFA Europa League cup of 2011/12.
As for his international career Mario has come through all the youth national teams but has not been called up to the seniors yet.
