Markel Bergara Larrañaga is a Spanish footballer, currently he plays for Real Sociedad as a defensive midfielder. He was born in 1986 in Elgoibar, Spain.
A product of Real Sociedad youth ranks, he made his start with Real Sociedad reserve team and earned 55 caps during his two seasons with the team.
The 2005/06 season he spent on loan at SD Eibar, where made 25 appearances, and the next season he was loaned to UD Vecindario, there he made 18 appearances.
Markel Bergara made his debut for Real Sociedad in Copa del Rey in September 2007, when the team suffered 0-1 loss to UD Las Palmas.
After three years in the second division the team reached the top division in the 2009/10 season. Bergara appeared in 19 matched during the season and made his debut in September 2010, playing for three minutes against UD Almería.
He was called up for Spain U-16, U-17, U-19, U-20 national teams and as a part of the team he won UEFA Under-19 Championship in 2004.
