Marouane Chamakh was born on 10 January 1984 in Tonneins, France and plays as a striker for Crystal Palace and the Morocco national team.
He went in for football at the age of four and managed to play for several French clubs like Nerac and Marmandais till he turned 18. In 2002 the footballer signed for Bordeaux. Marouane became Ligue 1 Champion (2009), lifted the Coupe de la Ligue (2007, 2009) and the Trophée des champions (2008, 2009) playing for the club.
In 2009 several English teams like Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal took an interest in the Moroccan footballer. On 21 May 2010, Chamakh signed for Arsenal on a free transfer. His start in the club was pretty good, because the footballer managed to score ten goals by the end of the season and become Arsenal’s top goalscorer. However, after van Persie had recovered from his trauma, Marouane sat firmly on the substitutes’ bench.
After a short spell West Ham Marouane joined Crystal Palace in August 2013.
Chamakh took part in one match for the France national team and he has been a permanent player of the Morocco national team since 2003.
