Marquinho Antonio de Mattos Filho is a midfielder of AS Roma. He was born on 3 July 1986 in Passo Fundo, Brazil.
Marquinho began his career in football playing for various Brazilian youth clubs. He managed to stay at 6 different football academies that included Gaúcho in 1998, Juventude in 1999, Internacional and Grêmio in 2000, Vasco and Palmeiras in 2001. Marquinho stayed with Palmeiras for 5 years and got ready for professional football.
In 2006 Antonio de Mattos received an offer to sign a professional contract with Palmeiras having good future prospects. The midfielder agreed the terms with the club and was promoted to the first team in 2006/07 season trying himself in Brazilian pro football.
In 2007 Marquinho moved to Botafogo and scored 1 goal in 5 matches in 2007/08 season for the club. In 2008 he was signed by Figueirense and played 25 games netting 5 goals during the season. In 2009 Marquinho joined another Brazilian club Fluminense and was part of the team for a couple of years scoring 18 goals in 125 appearances with the club. In January 2012 the footballer was sent out on loan to Roma that needed to fill the gap in the attacking line. In 2014 the player was loaned out to Hellas Verona.
