Martin’s football career started in 1987 in Delbrücker SC. At the age of 17 he changed the outfit and left for Paderborn where he joined the same-name club. He spent 3 subsequent seasons in SC Paderborn 07 and went to Arminia Bielefeld to continue his development there. In 2001 Arminia offered Martin his first professional contract.
Initially Martin played in the U-19 team but in 2004 he made his debut in the first squad. The game remained his only for the club from Bielefeld. Half a year after Martin’s single Arminia appearance he was gratis transferred to Eintracht Braunschweig. Here Martin gained a regular starting spot. In Eintracht Braunschweig Amedick passed two seasons, scored twice and thereby noticed attention of Borussia Dortmund scouts. For two subsequent seasons in Dortmund he was continually moved back and forth from the first eleven to the reserve side. After that Martin joined FC Kaiserslautern. This club was the place of employment he stayed at the longest. He finished his fourth Kaiserslautern season with in total 105 apps and 10 scores. In this squad the centre back turned out to be a real pillar and was frequently trusted the captain’s armband. But in 2011 the resignation of the manager caused Amedick to look for another continuation of his career. So he kept it going in Eintracht Frankfurt. His first appearance here occurred on February 5, 2012 but thereupon he was fielded only twice. Hence, he looked for a different squad and joined Paderborn in 2013.
