Martin Jiránek was born on 25 May 1979 in Prague. He is a defender of FC Terek Grozny in the Russian Premier League.
Martin began his youth career at Radotinský SK in 1985 and went on his football grooming at FC Bohemians Prague in 1994. In 1997, he was promoted to the first team of the club where he played in 55 matches for two seasons.
In 1999, Jiránek left his home club and started to play for Slovan Liberec, helping the team to win the Czech Cup in the 1999/2000 season. From 2001 to 2004, Martin came in on the field as a player of the Italian Reggina. He made a total of 100 games for a three-year stint at the club.
In 2004, Jiránek moved to FC Spartak Moscow. He made his Russian debut in a match against FC Lokomotiv Moscow. Jiránek esatablished himself as a prominent player of the team and was a regular starter during the whole six-year stint at the club amassing 136 appearances. He was chosen as Spartak’s captain in the 2009/10 season.
In the summer of 2010, Jiránek joined Birmingham City. He made his English Premier League debut in a League Cup match against MK Dons. Martin was a part of the team that thrashed giants Arsenal 2-1 in a League Cup final in 2011.
In the summer of 2011, the football player joined FC Terek Grozny in the Russian Premier League. He sparked furor scoring a 45 yard amazing goal in one of the League Cup matches.
From 2000 to 2002, Jiránek performed for the Czech Republic U21 team. In between 2002 and 2007, Martin played in 31 international matches for the senior Czech side.
