Martín Montoya Torralbo was born in 1991 in Gavà, Spain. A Spanish footballer currently plays for FC Barcelona as a right defender.
He started playing in his hometown CF Gavà. Then he joined FC Barcelona’s youth ranks and having graduated from there, Montoya started to play with Barcelona’s reserves, B team, in 2009.
During the 2009/10 season he appeared in 22 matches helping them to promote to Segunda División after eleven-year absence.
In February 2011 Martín Montoya debuted for the first team,substituting Adriano Correia and playing the last five minutes of a 3-0 victory over RCD Mallorca.
In April 2011 he made his La Liga debut for Barca, but that match ended 1-2 loss to Real Sociedad and Montoya suffered an injury and stayed aside till the end of the season.
The major part of the 2011/12 season Montoya spent with reserve team and reappeared for the first team in January 2012.
He played in in a 3–0 win against Athletic Bilbao in the 2012 Copa del Rey finals because of Daniel Alves’s injury.
Montoya’s international debut was in 2011, when he represented the Spain Under-21 team.
In 2011, Montoya earned his first cap with the Spanish under-21 team.
