Marvin Plattenhardt was born on January 26, 1992 in Filderstadt, Germany.
Marvin started his youth playing career in FC Frickenhausen in his native town. After that he was gaining game experience in the youth ranks of FV Nürtingen and SSV Reutlingen 05 until in 2008 he was noticed by FC Nürnberg and kept his youth career going in the academy of this German outfit. Soon the budding defender was awarded a cap for the German national U-17 team and made his international debut on October 16, 2008 against Czech Republic. With the team he won the 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship and subsequently represented the country in the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup. After that Marvin was promoted to the U-18 international squad whereupon was capped for the under-19 and under-20 teams. For the latter Marvin has already played 4 games.
In the season 2010/2011 Plattenhardt was shortlisted for the U-19 team of FC Nürnberg. In November 2010 due to the injuries of several first-string players the left-back was included in the first team and on December 3 already made his Bundesliga debut. In the next round he made a substitute appearance and since then has been selected in the main squad more often. Altogether he made 18 appearances for the first side of FC Nürnberg and 38 for the second one. In February 2011 Marvin prolonged his agreement till 2014.
