Massimo Donati is an Italian footballer born on 26 March 1981 in Sedegliano, Italy, who presently plays as a midfielder for Palermo.
He started his youth career at Atalanta in 1999 and then progressed to the senior level of the club. In 2001, Massimo moved to AC Milan but due to the rivalry for the first team place he had to roam from one loan to another. Thus, a young footballer featured for Parma and Sampdoria, scored 4 goals in 17 games for Torino in 2003, enjoyed better fortune at Messina, appearing in 67 matches, and even spent the 2006/07 season at his feeder club Atalanta. Overall, Donati had 143 appearances out on loan from Milan before moving to a Scottish top-flight club Celtic FC in 2007. He soon became a regular of the starting XI and scored a total of 3 goals in 31 games during his two-year stint at Celtic.
Massimo Donati spent 2009-2012 seasons at Bari performing as a key central midfielder for the club and amassing 4 goals in 82 appearances. In January 2012, he was acquired by Serie A club Palermo where he plays up to the present day.
From 2000 till 2004, Donati was called up to the Italy U-21 national team, amassing 26 appearances for these years. Though, he hasn’t featured for the national team yet.
